Add entrepreneurship to UTME subjects- Prof. Hyacinth

The Vice Chancellor, Veritas University, Abuja, Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, has urged JAMB to consider adding Entrepreneurship as a required subject in its examination.

He, further said that entrepreneurship which has been a key focus among people in recent years, and should be made a vital aspect of the educational system.

In his statement

Students should be trained not ONLY to read and write but also learn skills on how to be their own bosses. I strongly believe it is wise to add entrepreneurship to certain aspects of UTME because there has been high rate of unemployment in the labor market. So, the ability for students to create their own jobs has become very paramount.”

Prof. Hyacinth also commended JAMB for recently adding physical health education and computer science subjects to its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and said candidates sitting for the UTME could now pick computer studies or physical and health education as part of the four required UTME subjects, if they so desire or as dictated by their program preferences.
