ASUU Strike: Consider Students and Call Off the Strike- President Buhari Appeals.

The President, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) has pleaded with the Academic Staff Union of Universities to consider the unfortunate situation of students and call off the ongoing industrial action.

The President made the appeal today 12 May, at the 19th National Productivity Day and the conferment of the National Productivity Order of Merit Award to 48 eminent Nigerians and organizations in both the public and private sectors, for their high productivity, hard work and excellence.

He also urged students in Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions to exercise patience as the government is working tirelessly to address the incessant issues in the nation’s higher institution within the scope of the resources available.

Pres. Buhari reiterated that he had earlier directed the Chief of Staff, Hon. Ministers of Labour and Employment, Education, Finance, Budget and National Planning to immediately take a critical look at the ill-defined areas in the demands of ASUU and all other University-based labour Unions.
