This motion came was adopted by Hon. Emeka Chinedu (APC-Imo) at plenary on Wednesday in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting the motion, Hon. Chinedu explained that hundreds of first class graduates were being produced yearly from Nigerian universities, but only a few of them get employed at the end of the day and this forces them to travel to foreign countries or even get involved in illegal activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also added that \u201ceven though graduates with lower grades get the option of first refusal in getting jobs, due to their connections in some places the eventually get their desired job.\u201d He further stressed that if automatic employment for first-class graduates is granted, it would motivate other students to work harder because graduating with a first class in any Institution of learning is an indication of a grade A \u2013 brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking against the motion, Abdurrazak Namdaz (APC-Adamawa), said a first class graduate might not necessarily be the most qualified person for a particular job because experience matters too when getting a job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Babangida Ibrahim (APC-Katsina) who seconded the motion raised by Abdurrazak said granting automatic employment for first-class graduates might encourage academic corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila however concluded that granting automatic employment for first-class graduates would encourage academic excellence among Nigerian students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of House of Representatives\u00a0has urged the Federal government to consider automatic employment for first class Nigerian graduates.
