{"id":13430,"date":"2023-08-04T15:05:39","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T15:05:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=13430"},"modified":"2023-08-04T15:05:42","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T15:05:42","slug":"nef-africa-energy-innovation-challenge-2023-up-to-10000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/nef-africa-energy-innovation-challenge-2023-up-to-10000\/","title":{"rendered":"NEF Africa Energy Innovation Challenge 2023 (up to $10,000)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The 8th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge organized by Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF) challenges early-stage energy entrepreneurs across Africa to collaborate with local research institutions or industries to develop a prototype model of a key device\/equipment for a social energy enterprise, agri-business, fintech solutions or energy management system using local resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals are invited across four innovation tracks for early-stage energy entrepreneurs from Africa, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Track 1: Clean Energy Solutions for Agro-industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track 2: Energizing Healthcare &amp; Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track 3: Smart Metering &amp; Artificial Intelligence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track 4: Cleaner Electrification of Transport\/Oil &amp; Gas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 years from Africa are invited to participate in the competition across any of the four (4) innovation tracks above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications may be submitted by a team of at least three people. Teams may be formed across different schools, institutions, companies, countries etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individuals or teams may submit multiple applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women-led teams are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evaluation Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first round of submissions will be evaluated using the following attributes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Local Content:&nbsp;<\/strong>utilize local resources, demonstrate use of local expertise, alternative energy services or efficient solutions for powering agriculture, education, healthcare, industries etc.; and be significant enough to impact large numbers of people, households and\/or businesses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Originality and creativity:<\/strong>&nbsp;present solutions that are original, creative in areas that are either&nbsp;underdeveloped or severely underdeveloped in research and literature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Commercial Viability:<\/strong>&nbsp;proposed prototype model should be realistic, practical rather than just theory, cost efficient and outline commercial arrangements that address obvious roadblocks, using a specific prototype model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clarity:<\/strong>&nbsp;ideas should be presented in a clear and concise manner with realistic completion timeline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prizes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The finalists and winners will be selected by an independent panel of industry experts and experienced development professionals from public and private sector institutions. It is anticipated that at least 1 winner per track will be awarded grant prizes with up to 20 shortlisted entries offered complimentary passes to fully participate in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winners of the competition get the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Receive cash prize grants of up to USD $10,000 to demonstrate or scale the proposed solution;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pitch their proposed prototype model at the 2023 Nigeria Energy Forum, using a poster and short video;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Benefit from unique networking opportunities with other young professionals as well as some of the most senior decision-makers in government, international development, academia, and the private sector;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend business development workshops, and receive support from a dedicated start-up incubator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions must be&nbsp;made online&nbsp;and email evidence of submission in Microsoft Word or PDF format by email to&nbsp;<strong>info@thenef.org.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Subject line of the email should follow the format: [Country] Title of the Project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submissions that exceed the page\/word limit may be disqualified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shortlisted submissions would be invited to participate in the final round by submitting a 1-page poster to summarize their design, with a detailed budget, a 2-page Design Brief, and a Short 2-minute video to pitch a prototype model of the proposed solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: August 31, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenef.org\/aeic\/\">HERE<\/a>&nbsp;To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 8th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge organized by Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF) challenges early-stage energy entrepreneurs across Africa to collaborate<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":13431,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[43],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13430","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entrepreneurship"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
