{"id":14299,"date":"2023-08-31T12:26:34","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T12:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=14299"},"modified":"2023-08-31T12:26:37","modified_gmt":"2023-08-31T12:26:37","slug":"government-of-ireland-postgraduate-scholarship-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/government-of-ireland-postgraduate-scholarship-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is unique in the Irish research landscape and complements other channels for funded postgraduate education in the Irish ecosystem. Among its features are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>individual, prestigious awards for excellent research in the name of the applicant;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an objective selection process using international, independent expert peer review;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>funding across all disciplines, from archaeology to zoology; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>awards for bottom-up, non-directed research, with the exception of those funded by our strategic funding partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pioneering proposals addressing new and emerging fields of research or those introducing creative, innovative approaches are welcomed. Proposals of an interdisciplinary nature are also encouraged as it is recognised that advancing fundamental understanding is achieved by integrating information, techniques, tools and perspectives from two or more disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is highly competitive, with an average success rate of 18% over the past five years. Successful awardees under the programme are recognised as demonstrating world-class potential as future research leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strategic funding partners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of government departments and agencies partner with the Irish Research Council to support the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme as a mechanism to deliver on shared national objectives. The Irish Research Council\u2019s strategic funding partners for 2024 are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.ie\/our-services\/research\/\">Environmental Protection Agency<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/organisation\/department-of-children-equality-disability-integration-and-youth\/\">Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfa.ie\/\">Department of Foreign Affairs<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.met.ie\/\">Met \u00c9ireann<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What we offer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The value of the scholarship will be up to a maximum of \u20ac28,000 per annum in any approved year and will consist of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a stipend of \u20ac19,000 per annum;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of \u20ac5,750 per annum; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>eligible direct research expenses of \u20ac3,250 per annum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potential applicants should read the call documentation carefully to ascertain whether or not they are eligible to apply.
