{"id":14901,"date":"2023-09-22T09:48:07","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T09:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=14901"},"modified":"2023-09-22T09:48:10","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T09:48:10","slug":"women-in-science-and-engineering-fellowship-for-ph-d-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/women-in-science-and-engineering-fellowship-for-ph-d-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Women in Science and Engineering Fellowship for Ph.D. (India)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The \u201cWISE Fellowship for Ph.D. (WISE-PhD)\u201d of the Department of Science and Technology aims to provide opportunity to carry out Doctoral research in basic and applied sciences to women scientists and technologists between the age group of 27-45 years who want to pursue research in STEM fields as bench-level scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vision:<\/strong>&nbsp;WISE-PhD provides opportunity to women to pursue higher education, i.e., Ph.D. through independent project grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong>&nbsp;The main objective of WISE-PhD is to encourage women scientists to conduct Doctoral research in science and engineering and to engage them in knowledge dissemination through SSR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scientific Disciplines<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under WISE-PhD, support is available in 5 scientific disciplines viz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PM);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemical Sciences (CS);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Life Sciences (LS);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EA); and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engineering &amp; Technology (ET).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This Programme provides fellowship of the applicant @Rs. 31,000\/- per month along with House Rent Allowances (HRA) as per norms, Research Grant of Rs. 1.00 lakh per year and Institutional overhead charges @Rs. 0.50 lakh per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong>&nbsp;The project tenure is up to maximum 5 years\u2019 duration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Educational Qualification:<\/strong>&nbsp;Women Scientists having Post-Graduate Degree in Basic\/Applied Science or equivalent degree like M. Phil., M. Tech., M. Pharm., etc. or B.Tech. are eligible for WISE-PhD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Age:<\/strong>&nbsp;The minimum age to apply in the programme is 27 years and maximum is 45 years (Relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit is allowed for SC\/ ST\/ PH candidates). Women scientists, less than 27 years of age are not eligible. Cut-off date for age calculation would be the date of submission of WISE-PhD application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Who Can Apply:<\/strong>&nbsp;Unemployed women who want to pursue Ph.D. can apply for fellowship under WISE-PhD. The programme is open for both candidates; those who have not yet registered as well as who have already registered for Ph.D., but not availing fellowship from any sources.
