This annual competition inspires students to be creative while promoting public awareness of the need to preserve, protect, and restore the world\u2019s oceans and aquatic resources, contributing to the overarching goals of the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation. The<em>\u00a0Challenge<\/em>\u00a0is open to primary and secondary\u00a0school students 11-19 years old, with scholarships of up to $500 awarded to the winning entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme for the 2024\u00a0<em>Science without Borders\u00ae Challenge<\/em>\u00a0is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingoceansfoundation.org\/education\/science-without-borders-challenge\/learn-about-the-theme\/\"><em>Hidden Wonders of the Deep<\/em><\/a>.\u201d To apply for this year\u2019s contest, students should submit artwork depicting mysterious and unique deep-sea creatures or ecosystems, highlighting the beauty and diversity that often goes unseen.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingoceansfoundation.org\/education\/science-without-borders-challenge\/learn-about-the-theme\/\"><strong>Learn about the theme<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prizes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Winners of the&nbsp;<em>Science Without Borders\u00ae Challenge<\/em>&nbsp;will be awarded with the following scholarships:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1st Place: $500<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2nd Place: $350<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3rd Place: $200<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We also offer a \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice\u201d award, where the winners in each age group will receive a $50 scholarship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This international art competition is open to all students 11-19 years old. Students must be enrolled in primary or secondary school, or the home school equivalent. College and university students are not eligible for this contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work will be judged in two categories based on age, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded for each:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students 11-14 years old<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students 15-19 years old<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply to the 2024&nbsp;<em>Science Without Borders Challenge<\/em>, fill out the online entry form, upload a picture of your artwork, and make sure everything is submitted before the deadline! If you are under the age of 13, your parents will be asked to provide consent, so make sure not to wait until the last minute.
