{"id":15929,"date":"2023-10-25T15:52:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-25T15:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=15929"},"modified":"2023-10-25T15:52:53","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T15:52:53","slug":"hanga-sexual-reproductive-health-srh-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/hanga-sexual-reproductive-health-srh-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Hanga Sexual &amp; Reproductive Health (SRH) Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hanga Sexual &amp; Reproductive Health (SRH) Program was conceived by the Government of Rwanda in 2022 through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hangapitchfest.rw\/\">HangaPitchFest<\/a>\u00a0to explore the opportunity that exists for technology enabled startups to solve key issues in SRH to accelerate better outcomes.\u00a0This year, we are excited to work with key partners to scout, select, and\u00a0 provide technical and business\u00a0 support to\u00a0<strong>20\u00a0 startups in Sub-Saharan Africa\u00a0<\/strong>working on innovative\u00a0<strong>tech-enabled<\/strong>\u00a0solutions that are\u00a0addressing challenges\u00a0 in ways that\u00a0<strong>break the mold in SRH.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OUR TARGET THEMES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Improving maternal health<\/strong>&nbsp;beyond the access to safe abortion&nbsp;for populations&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tackling unsafe abortion<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;removing the barriers to accessing safe abortion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Targeting young people (10-24)<\/strong>&nbsp;with youth-friendly SRH information and services.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tackling gender based violence<\/strong>&nbsp;including sexual violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meeting the need for contraception&nbsp;<\/strong>including education about and access to contraception.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that this is not the full extent of themes which constitute improving SRH outcomes, and would love to hear from&nbsp; innovators with ideas beyond the mentioned themes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We actively encourage youth and female-led start-ups innovating in SRH to apply.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHAT&#8217;S IN FOR YOU?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If selected to join the Hanga SRH Program, you will have access to the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Funding:&nbsp;<\/strong>grant funding valued at&nbsp;<strong>$10,000 USD&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;with the scope to increase up to&nbsp;<strong>$30,000 USD&nbsp;<\/strong>for the highest performing start-ups in the program<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\ud83d\udcda\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/14.0.0\/svg\/1f4da.svg\"><strong>Learning:&nbsp;<\/strong>a 3 month, cohort-based learning curriculum, covering entrepreneurship, evidence and SRH<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\ud83e\udd1d\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/14.0.0\/svg\/1f91d.svg\">&nbsp;<strong>Bespoke Support:&nbsp;<\/strong>Tailored support from venture-building and SRH experts over a period of 9 months for the&nbsp; eligible start-ups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/edZUJh9oBXK6yGgA7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">APPLY NOW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You are eligible to apply for the Hanga Sexual &amp; Reproductive Health (SRH) Track\u00a0 if the following apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ORGANIZATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be operating in any country in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/11c-11rIaRX4coTwJGvwae9nLYAMBtX9G\/view?usp=share_link\">Sub-Saharan Africa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be developing a product and venture which contributes towards a sexual and reproductive health (SRH) theme in an innovative and pioneering way<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The start-up must present a tech-enabled SRH solution or have the potential to scale through technology. Technology does not need to be the core innovation but it must be enabled by hardware or software of some kind.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must present a working prototype. This can be in the form of a working product demo in video format, a pitch deck explaining how the product works, a functional website, or anything&nbsp; similar.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be registered by the relevant authorities in the country of operation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The start-up should not have raised any venture capital (except angel investors, family, and friends). Start-ups that may have received grant funding from other incubator programs or hackathons are eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>APPLICANTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be the Founder \/ Co-founder and\/or hold primary decision-making power in the start-up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be digitally literate with consistent access to a laptop and&nbsp; internet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be&nbsp; at least 18 years of age at the time of application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TIMELINES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Applications open:&nbsp;<\/strong>October 20th<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Applications information session<\/strong>: October 31th&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Applications close:&nbsp;<\/strong>November 15th at 1700 CAT.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Virtual pitching:<\/strong>&nbsp;November 20th \u2013 21th<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Impact<\/strong>&nbsp;-does the start-up have&nbsp; potential to make meaningful change in SRH&nbsp; outcomes?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mindset<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 is the applicant curious and collaborative? Are they driven by the problem with a willingness to learn and grow with their idea?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Breaking the mold&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013&nbsp; is the idea a pioneering way of tackling an SRH issue or is it&nbsp; tackling a traditionally underinvested issue?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainability<\/strong>\u2013 does the idea have the potential to be sustainable at scale?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a question about the program?
