Meeting people from all over the world, gaining experiences unlike any other, and making new memories in life \u2013 what\u2019s there not to love?. However, if you\u2019re unprepared, you might find the transition from a comfortable family living to live independently in a foreign country quite difficult and stressful. So, we have compiled this useful\u00a0study abroad preparation checklist<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to assist in your study abroad preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, while you would have to pinch every penny trying to get through the gauntlet of college<\/strong><\/a> life, doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t kill it with an incredible trip. You need to play it smart, watching your wallet very carefully to minimizing your expense while still able to have the maxi-life during your study stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You preparation becomes adequate, even, when you know\u00a0what to pack when going abroad to study<\/strong><\/a>. We want you to wander around school confidently during your stay, and come back with some cash still in the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.) Make Sure All Your Paperwork Is In Order.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get your passport as early as possible, and apply for your visa(s) on time (if you\u2019re reading this and wondering \u201cVisa? Make sure it will last you well beyond your stay abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.) Secure Your Courses, Flights, And Housing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All study abroad programs are unique, but most involve traditional coursework. Know what classes you\u2019ll be taking and when they meet (so you can plan activities around that schedule) and where you\u2019ll be staying (to determine your commute). If you\u2019re doing some travel before your semester begins, that\u2019s great! Just make sure you\u2019ve booked a flight to your study abroad destination. That\u2019s the whole point of the trip, so don\u2019t leave it up to chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.) Talk To Your Bank.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet with your bank to find out how your credit and debit cards work overseas. Some banks will have their own, hassle-free items in your area, and some might have regional partners that don\u2019t charge a fee for withdrawing cash. If you belong to a smaller bank that doesn\u2019t have an international presence, plan for that. Lean on a traveler\u2019s credit card as much as possible, and only take out cash when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.) Budget Your Finances<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This may not be something that\u2019s constantly on your mind when your parents are around but while studying abroad<\/strong><\/a>, you need to be aware of your monetary circumstances and budgeting. Just like your mobile service provider, make sure there is an arrangement with your bank before you leave so they don\u2019t decline your payments when you\u2019re buying some coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
