They offer PhD scholars studying at eligible universities across the Commonwealth the opportunity to conduct research at an institute in the UK for 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To widen access to UK equipment and expertise for high quality doctoral candidates from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries, and to contribute to UK and Commonwealth higher education and research through collaboration and partnerships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Intended<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>beneficiaries:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High-quality graduates whose proposed research has a developmental focus and who have the potential to become influential teachers or researchers in their home countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for these Scholarships, prospective Scholars must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be registered for a PhD at a university in an eligible Commonwealth country by the time your Scholarship starts (September 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that an institutional or departmental link exists between your home university and your proposed UK university. This link must be greater than simply a collaboration between individuals \u2013 see section on \u2018Tenure and placement\u2019 for further details. Both supervisors must provide a supporting statement which provides further details of the link to ensure your application is eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be available to start your academic studies in the UK in September 2023<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By September 2023, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master\u2019s degree)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this Scholarship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each Scholarship provides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and Scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of \u00a31,236 per month, or \u00a31,516 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warm clothing allowance, where applicable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of \u00a3529 per month for the first child, and \u00a3131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Selection process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will be considered according to the following selection criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic merit of the candidate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quality of the plan of study<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potential impact on the development of the candidate\u2019s home country<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For More Information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/scholarships\/commonwealth-split-site-scholarships-for-low-and-middle-income-countries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Visit the Official Webpage of the Commonwealth Split-site (PhD) Scholarships<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: \u00a05 December 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About Funded by the\u00a0UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO),\u00a0Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships\u00a0enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":8425,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[47],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-16371","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-scholarship"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
