A civil society organisation, National Consultative Front, has urged the Federal Government to resolve issues associated with the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike, which began two months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement made available to the press on Sunday, the group asked the FG to hastily find a lasting solution to the incessant strike action by Lecturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement signed by the group\u2019s Head of Public Affairs Bureau, Tanko Yunusa titled, “NCFront, 3rd Force Leaders Call On Federal Government To Convene Education Confab To Proffer Panacea And Resolve Crippling Universities\u2019 Workers\u2019 Strike.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Partly reads, \u201cLeaders of the 3rd Force Movement under the auspices of the National Consultative Front, NCFront call on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to immediately find lasting panacea in resolving the issues associated with the ongoing Universities Workers\u2019 ( ASUU, SSANU, NASU and NAAT) strikes which commenced with an ASUU warning strike in February 2022 and have continued till date<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe hereby make this call in the interest of our country, but more particularly for the huge number of students, parents, academic and non- teaching staff in all federal and state-owned universities across the country who have been affected directly by this avoidable strike.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur youths in public universities are losing their most active and creative years due to no fault of theirs, while their parents are undergoing a painful agony of witnessing their children and resources waste away under their very noses.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSadly, the children of most top government officials attend private universities or study abroad; they do not feel the distress and torment of the ordinary parents which we continue to call for a law mandating State actors their nuclear families to attend only Nigerian institutions while in office<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn addition, the government is also wasting our national resources because by the end of the industrial action, all academic staff and non-teaching staff that are mostly inactive now would still receive their salaries.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A civil society organisation, National Consultative Front, has urged the Federal Government to resolve issues associated with the Academic Staff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":781,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1684","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"\n
