He later moved to\u00a0Christ&#8217;s School Ado Ekiti, where he earned the West African School Certificate. He obtained the General Certificate of Education in 1974 while pursuing his Higher School Certificate course at the\u00a0Igbobi College,\u00a0Yaba,\u00a0Lagos, between 1973 and 1975. Later in 1975, he enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programme in Political Science at the\u00a0University of Lagos, Akoka,\u00a0Lagos\u00a0and graduated in 1978.\u00a0He later returned to the same university and obtained a master&#8217;s degree in Mass Communications in 1981.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alake began his journalism career during his Service year as a corper at Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC). He later secured a job with the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation (LSBC) as Senior Sub-Editor in which capacity he served till 1980. While working at LSBC, he served as Current Affairs Officer and Senior Current Affairs Officer, he was later promoted to the rank of a Principal Current Affairs Officer in 1983. He was among the pioneer founders of Lagos Television (L TV 8). After a successful engagement in broadcast journalism, Alake switched into print media joining the Concord Press publishers of the Concord Group of Newspapers . He was a writer and editor at the National Concord and Sunday Concord and later a columnist in the National Concord until 1989.
