Can all understand and control how strong models generalize from weak supervision?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interpretability<\/strong>: How can all understand model internals? And can all use this to e.g. build an AI lie detector?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scalable oversight<\/strong>: How can all use AI systems to assist humans in evaluating the outputs of other AI systems on complex tasks?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Many other research directions, including but not limited to<\/strong>: honesty, chain-of-thought faithfulness, adversarial robustness, evals and testbeds, and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits of participation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are offering $100K\u2013$2M grants for academic labs, nonprofits, and individual researchers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For graduate students, they are sponsoring a one-year $150K OpenAI Superalignment Fellowship: $75K in stipend and $75K in compute and research funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Criteria for participation&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They expect to be able to make grants to individuals and institutions in most other countries as well, barring legal restrictions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No prior experience working on alignment is required; they are actively looking to support researchers who are excited to work on alignment for the first time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application process is simple, and they\u2019ll get back to you within four weeks of applications closing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: February 18, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/blog\/superalignment-fast-grants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE&nbsp;<\/a>to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About OpenAI in partnership with Eric Schmidt, is launching $10M in grants to support technical research towards the alignment and<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":10249,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[44],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-17634","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-grants"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
