{"id":18668,"date":"2024-02-08T13:00:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T13:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=18668"},"modified":"2024-02-08T13:00:46","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T13:00:46","slug":"the-world-bank-group-youth-summit-2024-washington-dc-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/the-world-bank-group-youth-summit-2024-washington-dc-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"The World Bank Group Youth Summit\u00a02024 Washington DC., USA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opportunitiesforafricans.com\/youth-summit-2022-at-the-world-bank-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2024 World Bank Group Youth Summit.<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0After a successful 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0edition, the World Bank Group Youth Summit is back for an 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0time on the theme of Digital Transformation, engaging youth on the most pressing topics facing their generation and bringing together thousands of participants from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summit will take place on May 30-31, 2024, with activities and engagements in different regions and at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington DC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Youth Summit is the largest worldwide annual gathering of youth (aged 18-35) hosted by the World Bank Group to engage with each other globally on the most pressing topics facing our generation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summit\u2019s mission is to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1)&nbsp;<strong>Empower youth<\/strong>&nbsp;to explore innovative ideas that tackle development challenges;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Provide youth with the tools to build and&nbsp;<strong>engage in impactful projects<\/strong>; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3)&nbsp;<strong>Promote dialogue<\/strong>&nbsp;between youth, the WBG, and other key stakeholders globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WBG Youth Summit 2024\u2019s theme is&nbsp;<strong>Powering Progress: Youth Leading the Digital Transformation<\/strong>, spotlighting youth using technology to solve development challenges. In alignment with the World Bank\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.worldbank.org.mcas.ms%2Fen%2Ftopic%2Fdigitaldevelopment%2Foverview%3FMcasTsid%3D28375&amp;McasCSRF=3c07c5db04f371607e40c22241a19d7c1602f0015ba016476cfcb83a4758ef1f\">&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.worldbank.org.mcas.ms%2Fen%2Ftopic%2Fdigitaldevelopment%2Foverview%3FMcasTsid%3D28375&amp;McasCSRF=3c07c5db04f371607e40c22241a19d7c1602f0015ba016476cfcb83a4758ef1f\">Digital Development Practice<\/a>, the summit will focus on three subthemes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Digital Access and Inclusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Artificial Intelligence<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Sustainable Technology for a Livable Planet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When discussing these subthemes, the summit will focus on three fresh perspectives on technology:&nbsp;<strong>Youth in areas affected by Fragility, Conflict and Violence&nbsp;<\/strong>(FCV),&nbsp;<strong>Women in Tech<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Rural Youth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By giving recognition to these groups, pioneering ideas will be presented on the world stage that tackle the digital divide, promote inclusive and sustainable development, and explore the opportunities and challenges associated with emerging technologies. With the aim of empowering youth to harness the potential of\u202ftechnology, the summit will bring together young minds, experts, and stakeholders to shape the digital future and drive progress towards a more inclusive and sustainable world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call for Proposals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submit your proposal (Deadline: March 1<\/strong><sup>st<\/sup><strong>, 2024, 11:59 pm EST) \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youthsummit24.wufoo.com\/forms\/zr587641ladlrn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">APPLY HERE<\/a><br>Pitch decks will be evaluated by an expert committee. They may be asked to submit further information or refine their pitch deck. Shortlisted candidates will also be invited for a virtual interview with a panel of technical experts from the World Bank.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pitch your idea at the Youth Summit (May 30<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;\u2013 31<sup>st<\/sup>, 2024)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalists will join the 2024 World Bank Youth Summit hosted at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Travel expenses, including lodging and a nominal stipend for up to three nights, will be covered for one representative per team. The representative is required to obtain a valid U.S. visa for their travel.
