{"id":18678,"date":"2024-02-08T13:35:28","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T13:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=18678"},"modified":"2024-02-08T13:35:32","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T13:35:32","slug":"stanford-african-scholars-in-global-health-program-2024-2025-for-mid-career-licensed-african-physicians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/stanford-african-scholars-in-global-health-program-2024-2025-for-mid-career-licensed-african-physicians\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford African Scholars in Global Health Program\u00a02024\/2025 for mid-career licensed African physicians."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health&nbsp;<em>invite applications from mid-career, licensed African physicians who are working at an academic institution in an African country who seek to improve health outcomes by gaining and implementing a new skillset<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this unique fellowship focused on bidirectional learning and equitable partnerships, selected fellows will spend six weeks at Stanford during the 2024-25 academic year to develop a skill to help improve a specific health outcome at their institution. Cohort 1 will be at Stanford January \u2013 February 2025; Cohort 2 will travel during April \u2013 May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This program is open to physicians from all specialties and primary care who seek a specific skill to improve health outcomes at their institution.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The program prioritizes those from Sub-Saharan Africa interested in the fields of antimicrobial resistance, oncology, vaccine uptake, or inflammatory diseases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful applicants will identify a needed skillset they wish to gain through the fellowship, which will help them address a clear need and improve health outcomes at their home institution. Candidates must be able to show the support of a Stanford faculty mentor who is committed to the fellow and their project\u2019s success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To be considered, applicants must meet all the following eligibility criteria:&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be in good standing within their institutions and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes in their home countries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be an African citizen who is currently living, teaching and practicing clinically in an African country.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a board-certified medical doctor with one of the following degrees (MD, MBChB or MMed).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a mid-career physician, appointed as a faculty member for at least 3 and less than 15 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have strong working proficiency in written and spoken English (as determined by the selection committee).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While at Stanford, fellows will be appointed as Visiting Instructors and will have the opportunity to earn Continuing Medical Education credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They will then receive a generous Pfizer grant of up to $50,000 and ongoing mentorship for 12-18 months to implement a clinical improvement project at their home institution, building upon the skills developed at Stanford.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fellowship will culminate with a presentation at a convening to be held in an African country at a later date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The application process for the first two SASH cohorts is two steps.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This screening application opens on February 5th (Deadline: February 25, 2024).
