{"id":19530,"date":"2024-03-08T14:45:29","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T14:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=19530"},"modified":"2024-03-08T14:45:32","modified_gmt":"2024-03-08T14:45:32","slug":"world-trade-organization-wto-young-professionals-programme-2025-chf4000-monthly-salary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/world-trade-organization-wto-young-professionals-programme-2025-chf4000-monthly-salary\/","title":{"rendered":"World Trade Organization (WTO) Young Professionals Programme 2025 (CHF4,000 Monthly Salary)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The WTO Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a unique opportunity for qualified young professionals up to the age of 32 years, as at 1 January 2025, from WTO Members with low or no professional representation in the WTO Secretariat, to enhance their knowledge of WTO and skills in international trade issues.&nbsp; The Programme aims to widen the pool of professionals from these WTO Members, with the ultimate goal of broadening their representation in the WTO and\/or other regional and international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This programme offers selected young professionals the opportunity to gain work experience in the WTO.\u00a0It is a one-year programme without possibility of extension.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>General Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected Young Professional will be placed in a specific Division of the WTO Secretariat in accordance with the needs and priorities of the Organization; and based on the identified areas of interest of the Young Professional. Each Young Professional may express interest in no more than three areas of WTO work; and should state their order of preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The areas of work may include, inter alia, the following (in alphabetical order):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Accessions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Agriculture<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Climate change<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Communications and External Relations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Competition Policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Council and Trade Negotiations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Digital Trade<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Dispute Settlement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Economic Research and Statistics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Government Procurement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Intellectual Property Rights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Investment Facilitation for Development<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Market Access (tariffs and non-tariff barriers)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Technical Barriers to Trade<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade and Development<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade and Environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade Facilitation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade Finance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade and Gender<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade in Services and Investment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade Policy Analysis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade-Related Technical Assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Trade Remedies (anti-dumping and countervailing duties)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advanced university degree in economics, econometrics, international relations, law, environment studies, or other trade-related subjects relevant to the work of the WTO e.g. international investment law, trade and gender, etc.). Applicants must have obtained their advanced university degree by the time they submit their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Knowledge and Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General knowledge of the work of the WTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technical knowledge in one or more of the areas of work indicated above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good drafting skills in English. Ability to draft in French and\/or Spanish would be an advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a multicultural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demonstrated strong interest in international trade and the multilateral trading system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commitment and passion for trade or WTO-related work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum two (2) years of professional experience relevant to the work of the WTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Languages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fluency in English. A good working knowledge of either French or Spanish would be an advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preference shall be given to nationals from WTO Members without any representation as well as from developing and least developed countries (LDCs) Members with low representation (up to three staff members) at the professional level in the Secretariat (list below).
