{"id":19862,"date":"2024-03-19T15:04:58","date_gmt":"2024-03-19T15:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=19862"},"modified":"2024-03-19T15:05:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T15:05:06","slug":"2024-mo-ibrahim-foundation-scholarship-university-of-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/2024-mo-ibrahim-foundation-scholarship-university-of-birmingham\/","title":{"rendered":"2024 Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship | University of Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity that covers the full tuition fee of the selected candidate, visa and round-trip airfare, \u00a317100 living allowances, and a settling allowance upon arrival in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beneficiaries of the scholarship also benefit from an internship that enables the successful candidates spend six months working on research with academics and then six months with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in London working alongside the team on a variety of the Foundation\u2019s initiatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hold a&nbsp;<strong>first class Honours degree<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>or equivalent from an approved university is essential<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must be under 30 years of age at the time of applying.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good written and spoken English. For those whose first language is not English, evidence of this capacity is required. Applicants should reach at least level 6.5 in the IELTS or 580 \/93 for TOEFL.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must be African nationals domiciled (or permanent residents) in an African country. Preference will be given to scholarship candidates living in Sub-Saharan Afric<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full tuition fee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air fare to and from the United Kingdom and visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monthly stipend of \u00a3950 for 18 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arrival allowance of \u00a3950<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The remaining six months for the internship will be funded directly to the successful candidate by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Courses Eligible<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>International Development (20 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development Policy and Politics (20 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dissertation (60 credits). An in depth focus on a topic of particular interest, with support from a supervisor. This may involve overseas fieldwork in a country chosen by the candidate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose on of the following modules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Governance and State-building (20 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Democracy, Dictatorship and Development (20 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Optional modules (60 credits)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose from any module from across the School of Government.
