The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri (FPNO) Engr. Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE, has categorically declared that the institution is set to fully delve into digitized learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engr. Arimanwa made this known during a programme which was held at the Federal Ministry of Education auditorium of the Polytechnic following a successful digitization workshop on the production, benefits and commercial value of lecture notes in Compact Disc, flash drives and online platforms,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the workshop, The Rector assured the Heads of Departments that the Polytechnic under his watch would not be left behind as the world goes digital.\u00a0He therefore harped on the urgency of digitizing the pedagogical processes in the Polytechnic to enhance efficiency and easy learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the capacity and preparedness of the Polytechnic to effectively key into the programme, the Rector said: \u201cWe have the capacity to deploy technology needed for lecture note digitization, whether in the Compact Disk format, Flash Drive or Online platform.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe want to be counted as one of the institutions that successfully implemented the digitization programme.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Therefore,\u00a0the Rector directed the immediate implementation of the digitization process by asking the Registrar to inaugurate a committee of three persons for each department of the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The committee would be in charge of moderating the lecture notes that would be submitted by the lecturers and produce them in one composite form. Most Importantly, members of the committee must have technical and linguistic competencies to properly produce the digital lecture notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Engr. Arimanwa also urged lecturers to be prolific in research to publish in high impact factor journals which would enhance their visibility. He seized the opportunity to read out the names of ten scholars from the Polytechnic whose papers have received considerable visibility and references in high impact factor journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, Dr. Gbenga Yusuf, stressed that the vital benefits of the digitization project include: “Improvement in standard of education, Ease of download on electronic devises, Reduction of stress and ease of delivery of lecture notes, Flexibility of printing and elimination of academic problems and deprivations occasioned by long industrial actions<\/em>, among others.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Present at the workshop were the Deputy Rector (Academic) Dr. C.C.
