The Senate, Federal University of Technology Akure, have rejected the appointment of Prof. Adenike Oladiji as the eighth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution stating\u00a0the appointment was compromised and done in a fraudulent manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof.\u00a0Oladiji who was recently declared the First Female Vice Chancellor of the University 41 years of existence was cleared and confirmed at the University’s\u00a0Governing Council Special\u00a0Meeting held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, and her\u00a0appointment is to take\u00a0effect from Tuesday, May 24, 2022,\u00a0for a single term of Five years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\u00a0members of the University Senate issued a statement\u00a0signed by Prof. P. A. Aborisade and Prof. M. B. Oyun, stating that the appointment contravened the law of the University, (Act No 11 of 1993) as amended (2003) concerning the processes of the selection of a Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement stated that: “Prof.\u00a0Oladiji came second\u00a0in the selection process and no\u00a0potent\u00a0reason was given as to why the candidate who came first was dropped.
