The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) chapter, has dissociated itself from some concerned members kicking against the appointment of the University\u2019s new Vice Chancellor Prof. Adenike Temitope Oladiji.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A statement in Akure yesterday by the ASUU\u2019s Chairman, Prof. Oluyinka Awopetu and Secretary, Dr. E. Rasaki, described the publication titled \u2018FUTA VC: ASUU kicks, says appointment fraught<\/em> with fraud, lacks transparency,\u2019<\/em> as misleading and never originated from ASUU-FUTA secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reacting to the publication they said: \u201cThe said publication was signed, according to the reports, by two professors who are not members of the executive of ASUU FUTA branch. The two have no rights, neither were they authorized, nor have the capacity to speak for and on behalf of ASUU FUTA branch.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll communications from the branch are duly released by the branch chairperson and secretary only.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSimilarly, in other publications, we learnt of a purpor<\/em>ted position of FUTA Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs it is, the nation is aware of the ongoing total and comprehensive strike, which in part does not allow any meeting to hold. It was thus an embarrassment that our members were purported to have held a Senate meeting.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo the best of our knowledge and all facts on ground, no Senate meeting was held in our university to pursue this position.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cASUU FUTA, by this statement, is calling on members of the union and the public to disregard the statement in its entity as this is not the position of ASUU-FUTA.
