It is open to start-ups and public utility companies in Africa \u2013 i.e. both North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2024 Thematic Areas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Start-up\u2019s project must adhere to one of the under-listed thematic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Universal electricity access and mini-grids<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efficient grid management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resilience and decarbonisation of power systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial support of up to \u20ac150K, including technical assistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A joint boot camp run by cross-sectorial experts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Startups project widespread communication campaigns piloted by AFD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Start-up must meet the following criteria<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Founded less than 10 years ago<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be in the pre-seed\/early-stage financing phase, i.e. less than \u20ac1M funding raised<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual turnover of less than \u20ac1M<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employ between 1 and 99 people full-time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NB<\/strong>: NGOs can apply under the Start-up category if the project meets one of the additional following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The project is set up as a company as a branch of the NGO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The project has a dedicated team and business plan, and targets business sustainability\/profitability (e.g. plans to spin off as an independent entity).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, note that NGOs can apply under the Start-up category if the project meets one of the additional following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital i.e. based on a telecom, computer or cloud-based technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovative, either intrinsically or compared to the local market<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local, i.e. headquartered or with project management activities in the country of the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download the application pack for Start-ups\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digital-energy.eu\/en\/access-startup-application-file\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can watch the information webinar\u2019s replays in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/embed.api.video\/vod\/vi2yfkYOLrI6WUOJArkWnLwd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/embed.api.video\/vod\/vi5qC8WuPpCK9IaN3YSnMsMx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">French<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the application form\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digital-energy.eu\/en\/submission-startup-applications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>\u00a0and prepare the required documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for the Digital Energy Challenge project submission is Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 23:59 CET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: May 15, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digital-energy.eu\/en\/submission-startup-applications\">HERE<\/a>\u00a0to Apply<\/strong>?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each year, the Digital Energy Challenge for start-ups rewards 5 to 8 Startups developing innovative digital projects aimed at improving<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":20464,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[43],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-20463","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entrepreneurship"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
