Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India, offer fellowships to young foreign scientists from developing countries who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in physical sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Programme details<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TWAS-SN Bose Postgraduate Fellowships are tenable at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bose.res.in\/\">S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences<\/a>\u00a0in Kolkata, India for studies leading towards a PhD degree in one of the fields of\u00a0natural sciences and\u00a0life sciences for four years with the possibility of a one-year extension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants may be registered for a PhD degree in their home country (SANDWICH option), or may enroll in a PhD course at\u00a0the S.N. Bose National Centre\u00a0for Basic Sciences\u00a0 (FULL-TIME option). In both cases, the programme entails only one journey to the host country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admission to the PhD programme at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences\u00a0will depend on the successful completion of coursework (about one year\u2019s duration).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be a maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the application year;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be nationals of a developing country (other than India);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or any developed country;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hold a Masters Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics. S\/he must have completed at least a total 5 years of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in a recognized university or institute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be accepted by a department of the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. Prospective applicants are advised to visit the\u00a0Centre\u2019s website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bose.res.in\/\">www.bose.res.in\u00a0<\/a>and seek to find a potential supervisor under whom they would like to pursue their research and contact them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requests for acceptance must be directed to the Dean (Academic Programme), S. N. Bose National Centre for Sciences by e-mail (<a href=\"mailto:deanap@bose.res.in\">deanap@bose.res.in<\/a>). In contacting the Dean (Academic Programme),\u00a0<strong>applicants must fill out the \u201cSNB FORM\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>(that can be downloaded below) and request for an Acceptance Letter with copy of their CV.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide evidence of proficiency in English, if medium of education was not English;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide evidence that s\/he will return to her\/his home country on completion of the fellowship;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not take up other assignments during the period of her\/his fellowship;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Procedure:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The deadline for receipt of applications is<strong>\u00a01 July 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must submit an Acceptance Letter from a department of the S.N. Bose National Centre\u00a0for Basic Sciences when applying, or by the deadline at the latest. Without preliminary acceptance the application will not be considered for selection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications for the TWAS-SN Bose Postgraduate Fellowship Programme can ONLY be submitted via the online portal. A tutorial on how to use the online application form is available below for download.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please be advised that applicants may apply for only one programme per calendar year in the TWAS and OWSD portfolio. Applicants will not be eligible to visit another institution in that year under the TWAS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twas.org\/opportunities\/visiting-scientist\/professors\">Visiting Professor<\/a>\u00a0programmes.
