{"id":21011,"date":"2024-04-29T12:16:59","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T12:16:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=21011"},"modified":"2024-04-29T12:17:21","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T12:17:21","slug":"un-human-rights-commission-fellowship-programme-2024-for-people-of-african-descent-fully-funded-to-geneva-switzerland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/un-human-rights-commission-fellowship-programme-2024-for-people-of-african-descent-fully-funded-to-geneva-switzerland\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Human Rights Commission Fellowship Programme 2024 for People of African Descent (Fully Funded to Geneva, Switzerland)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Fellowship programme for people of African descent is an\u00a0intensive human rights training<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>for people of African descent, from the diaspora, who are engaged in promoting the rights of people of African descent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes place once a year at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fellowship programme provides the participants with the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learn about and deepen their understanding of the international human rights law and the UN human rights system, the international framework to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, and intersecting issues with a focus on people of African descent;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen skills in developing project proposals, delivering presentations and submitting information to human rights mechanisms;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gain first-hand exposure to human rights mechanisms;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with a wide-range of actors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is to strengthen participants\u2019 skills to contribute to the promotion&nbsp;and protection of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of people of African descent in their respective countries. The participants are equipped with the tools necessary to enhance the development of legislation, policies and programmes; to strengthen collaboration of civil society with governments; and to undertake local awareness-raising activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The candidate must be an individual of&nbsp;<strong>African descent living in the Diaspora.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of work experience related to the rights of People of African Descent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The candidate has to submit a letter from an organization working on issues related to people of African Descent or minority rights certifying their status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The candidates must be available to attend the full duration of the programme.
