The loan covers the cost of tuition, fees, and living expenses<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Family income of less than N500,000 per annum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide two civil servants with not less than level 12 years in service or a Lawyer with at least 10 years post-call experience; a Judicial officer; or a Justice of Peace as guarantors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students with parents who have defaulted in respect of previous loans will not be considered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must also not have defaulted on any previous loans or been found guilty of exam malpractice, felony, or drug offenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have met the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the loan by submitting the required documents to the Student Affairs Office of your institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Required Documents:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A completed application form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your admission letter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your JAMB result slip<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your WAEC\/NECO result certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your birth certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your passport photograph<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A guarantor\u2019s letter of support from each of your two guarantors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your guarantors\u2019 employment letter(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your guarantor\u2019s passport photographs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The Student Affairs Office of your institution will review your application and make a recommendation to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBN will then make a decision on whether or not to grant you the loan.<br>If you are granted the loan, the money will be paid to your institution, after which your institution will send it to your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and download the student loan application form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the application form correctly and make sure to attach all the required document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the application form and the correctly attached documents to the Student Affairs Office of your institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will be required to repay the loan over a period of 10 years after completion of your studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The law stipulates two years imprisonment or a fine of N500,000 ($650) or both for students who default in repayment, or anyone found aiding defaulters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government Student Loan is a financial assistance program that is designed to help Nigerian students afford the cost<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":20758,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[49],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-21564","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
