Graduate students around the globe interested in the work of the United Nations&nbsp;\u2014 and in particular, UNU \u2014 are encouraged to apply for the fall 2022 application round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The underlying principles of the Junior Fellows&nbsp;Internship Programme at the Office of the Rector are centred on creating a dynamic, challenging and rewarding experience for graduate level students and young professionals. Successful candidates will contribute to the work of the Office of the Rector, the United Nations University, and the UN system as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Company\/Organisation(s):&nbsp;<\/strong>United Nations University<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Type:<\/strong>&nbsp;Graduate Internship<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Location<\/strong>: Tokyo, Japan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Duration<\/strong>: 3-4 months<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Available Slot:&nbsp;<\/strong>Not Specified<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic Qualifications<\/strong>: Recent graduates<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nationality<\/strong>: All Nationalities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose of the United Nations University Internship Programme<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the Junior Fellows Internship Programme&nbsp;at the Office of the Rector is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>to promote interaction and dialogue between young scholars, professionals and UNU;<\/li><li>to familiarize junior fellows with the activities of the Office of the Rector and the work of UNU;<\/li><li>to provide opportunities for young professionals to gain in-depth, hands-on experience in a UN agency;<\/li><li>to expose young professionals to an administrative working environment, and;<\/li><li>to provide support to activities within the Office of the Rector.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The qualifications that are considered in each application process include, but are not limited to, the following. The candidate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>is currently pursuing or has recently completed (within two years of application) postgraduate studies (master\u2019s or doctoral), preferably in a field related to the University\u2019s work;<\/li><li>is under 32 years of age at the time of application;<\/li><li>must not have more than 5 years of work experience in their related field;<\/li><li>has a native or fluent command of written and spoken English;<\/li><li>has excellent research, writing and analytical skills;<\/li><li>can establish and maintain effective working relations with people from diverse backgrounds;<\/li><li>demonstrates resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving;<\/li><li>has advanced computer skills: sound, hands-on, knowledge of MS Office applications (familiarity with ICT tools and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel are desirable);<\/li><li>has a demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and more specifically, in the work of the United Nations University.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Program Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The UNU Junior Fellow Interns are entitled to 1.5 days of leave per month.<\/li><li>The Interns are provided office space and facilities, as appropriate for their work.<\/li><li>The interns receive a monthly stipend which includes a transportation allowance for their commute to and from UNU headquarters building.<\/li><li>They are given access to the UNU headquarter library<\/li><li>They are given free membership to the UNU headquarter gym<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Procedures<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>How-to-Apply: Junior Fellows are&nbsp;recruited through a competitive application process twice per year.
