{"id":23351,"date":"2024-08-15T14:51:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T14:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=23351"},"modified":"2024-08-15T14:51:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T14:51:04","slug":"call-for-applications-unesco-global-media-information-literacy-week-youth-hackathon-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/call-for-applications-unesco-global-media-information-literacy-week-youth-hackathon-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Call For Applications: UNESCO Global Media &amp; Information Literacy Week Youth Hackathon 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Youth Hackathon, an integral component of the Global MIL Week, offers a global stage for youth participation and engagement, aiming to harness innovation and youth-led initiatives to respond to the Week\u2019s theme, in particular the growing role of digital content creators and influencers in the information landscape; and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning teams will be invited to Amman, Jordan, on October 30 and 31 to present their projects during the closing ceremony of the Global MIL Week Feature Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Theme: Youth Leading the Way \u2013 Media and Information Literacy and the New Digital Frontiers of Information<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tasks and Challenges<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants will focus on one of the following topics to design innovative solution and scheme their proposals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Empowering youth to become active participants in shaping the digital spaces they inhabit, finding ways to promote public interest information rather than passive consumers of information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exploring innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exploring receptive and effective approaches to Media and Information Literacy Education and Capacity Building through Peer education and Feeding Education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activating Youth Organizations to be agents of change through collaborating with digital content creators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solutions Categories<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications\/Websites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Radio programmes\/Podcasts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educational toolkits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative community-based interventions (non-technology focused)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other creative modalities for innovative interventions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong> <strong>Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teams will comprise 3-6 members (ensuring gender parity, teams can be national, regional, or international).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members must be aged between 18 and 30 years old and adhere to UNESCO\u2019s values such as peace, respect for diversity, freedom of expression.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No previous experience is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each submission to include a document presenting the solution and a 3-minute video pitch (a creative format is strongly recommended).
