Fellowships target senior and mid-career officials and professionals who are in a position to advance development outcomes in priority areas and increase the institutional capacity of partner countries through their leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Award Type<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia Awards Fellowships provide short-term opportunities for in-Australia study, research and professional development activities, hosted by Australian organisations \u2013 and do not lead to academic qualifications. Application rounds are held through a competitive selection process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fellow-eligibility\"><strong>Fellow Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia Awards Fellowships target senior officials and mid-career professionals, who, in the short to medium term, will be in a position to advance priority development and foreign affairs issues on their return home. To be eligible, all Fellows nominated by Australian organisations must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencing the Fellowship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not be a permanent resident or be applying for permanent residency in Australia or partner of someone who is<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be a citizen of an eligible country<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>not be current serving military personnel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs for (DFAT sponsored) student visas subclass 500<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be able to participate in the Fellowship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be able to travel without family members as DFAT will only fund and provide visa support letters for individual Fellows, not their family members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fellows with a disability that requires assistance must travel with a carer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"participating-countries\">Participating countries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Africa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fellowship Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Australian organisations can request funding of up to AUD $34,500 per Fellow, to a maximum of 15 Fellows to cover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>return air travel and relevant in-Australia travel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>training costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>accommodation and living expenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>medical insurance costs when in Australia (for Fellowship holder only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>special assistance for people with disability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>program overhead fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"priority-areas\"><strong>Priority areas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fellowship programs must align with the following six development priority areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Climate change, adaptation, resilience and\u00a0green energy transition (include critical mineral mining)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital Economy, cyber resilience, and media engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maritime and the Blue Economy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Infrastructure and connectivity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Timeline:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2 September 2024<\/strong>\u00a0(AEDT) \u2013 Applications open.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>13 October 2024 (11.59pm AEST)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Applications close.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>From May 2025<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Round 20 outcome \u2013 successful and unsuccessful notifications made.
