{"id":24214,"date":"2024-09-18T12:02:59","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T12:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=24214"},"modified":"2024-09-18T12:03:02","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T12:03:02","slug":"2025-mastercard-scholarship-at-uc-berkely-university-of-california-berkeley-usa-fully-funded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/2025-mastercard-scholarship-at-uc-berkely-university-of-california-berkeley-usa-fully-funded\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 MasterCard Scholarship at UC Berkely (University of California Berkeley, USA) | Fully Funded"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The MasterCard Scholarship at UC Berkely aims to develop a cohort of ethical, entrepreneurial, and energetic young leaders who will drive and lead socio-economic transformation in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of California, Berkeley has partnered with\u00a0The Mastercard Foundation\u00a0in a collaborative, global network of education institutions and non-profit organizations that believe education is a catalyst for social and economic advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Being a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country:<\/strong>\u00a0This includes Africans who are refugees or displaced within the African continent. This scholarship is not intended for citizens of North African countries. Those with dual citizenship, asylee, refugee or permanent resident status in the US, Canada, UK or EU are not eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Having academic talent:<\/strong>\u00a0All prospective Scholars must first be admitted to a UC Berkeley master\u2019s degree program to be considered for the Scholarship. An important criteria for admission to the University is demonstrated academic excellence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Demonstrating leadership potential:<\/strong>\u00a0The Program seeks those committed to developing the skills and mindsets associated with transformative leadership, i.e, that which engages others in an ethical manner to generate positive and lasting change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Coming from a socio-economically disadvantaged background:<\/strong>\u00a0This Scholarship is designed for those extremely talented individuals who might not otherwise have access to quality further education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Having demonstrated the commitment to give back to your community, country, or continent:<\/strong>\u00a0We are looking for well-rounded students who are engaged in activities beyond the classroom. Some may be directly related to your field of study, but this may also include other issues (social, economic, political) that you are working on and passionate about. Applicants should elaborate on their achievements both in their application to UC Berkeley, and then later in the Scholarship application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Having expressed the desire and intention to return to your home country after completing your studies:<\/strong>\u00a0We are looking for students who are engaged with and passionate about issues affecting their communities, and who will take advantage of their education at UC Berkeley to better equip themselves with the knowledge and training to address these issues upon return. While important work can be done from abroad, the intention of the Program is to enable Scholars to return home, after forming valuable professional connections through internships, academic training and job placements.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duration and Reward<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Scholarship is fully-funded\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mastercard Foundation Scholars receive a comprehensive scholarship equivalent to the costs associated with earning a master\u2019s degree, which includes travel, tuition, Berkeley student fees, visa and SEVIS fees, housing, food, living expenses, and cohort signature programs which will focus on leadership and entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MBA students need to secure additional funding from Haas Business School through obtaining Haas scholarships, which requires meeting the Round One or Two application deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How To Apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After students apply for admission to a degree program, the Program will invite them to apply for the Scholarship, if they meet the eligibility requirements.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master\u2019s degree applicants must first apply to a graduate progam before they will be considered for the Mastercard Foundations Scholars Program. Not all degree programs are eligible.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mcfscholarsprogram.berkeley.edu\/graduate-application-process#EligiblePrograms\">Here<\/a>\u00a0is a list of Master\u2019s Degree programs.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each eligible\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/grad.berkeley.edu\/programs\/list\/\">graduate degree program<\/a>\u00a0has specific requirements and applicants should carefully review those.
