Many aspiring computer scientists could benefit from a program that bridges the gap between academic study and a professional internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Student Training in Engineering Program (STEP) aims to do just that. The 12-week program offers students the opportunity to work on a software project alongside another STEP intern, with the support of full-time Googlers and a mentor. You will also attend trainings to enhance your technical and professional skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google is an engineering company at heart. They hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to take on some of technology\u2019s greatest challenges and make an impact on users around the world. At Google, engineers not only revolutionize search, they routinely work on scalability and storage solutions, large-scale applications and entirely new platforms for developers around the world. From Google Ads to Chrome, Android to YouTube, social to local, Google engineers are changing the world one technological achievement after another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply knowledge gained in computer science courses to real-world challenges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a challenging technical project with a team of Googlers and other STEP interns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhance your coding by using new tools and programming languages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend training sessions to build your professional skills and to help set you up for success.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be matched with a Google engineer to mentor you throughout the internship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong> <strong>Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently enrolled and in your first or second year of a Bachelor\u2019s degree, or combined Master\u2019s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Available for a full-time 12-week internship from June 30 to September 26, 2025.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Programming experience in either Java, C++ or Python.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preferred qualifications:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Returning to a full-time Bachelor\u2019s degree for a minimum of two years after completing the internship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in programming outside of your university course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation in the STEP internship program requires that you are located in one of the specific country locations identified for this role, for the duration of the internship program and have the legal right to work in the location, for the duration of the program.
