{"id":25199,"date":"2024-10-25T15:28:11","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T15:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=25199"},"modified":"2024-10-25T15:28:14","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T15:28:14","slug":"amnesty-international-graduate-governance-fellowship-2025-r16-000-per-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/amnesty-international-graduate-governance-fellowship-2025-r16-000-per-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Amnesty International Graduate Governance Fellowship 2025 (R16 000 per month)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Amnesty International South Africa NPC (AISA) is recruiting a young law graduate at the start of their career as a Graduate Governance Fellow to assist Amnesty and its Board of Directors with drafting of documents, research, analysis, policy formulation and execution of governance and other projects in Amnesty\u2019s Johannesburg office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amnesty International South Africa is looking for a self-motivated, independent person at the start of their career to help us achieve excellence in NGO governance. Candidates should be committed to Amnesty International\u2019s values and goals, and have a demonstrable history of activism in areas related to Amnesty\u2019s work.<br><br>The fellowship will run for up to 11 months from the start of January 2025 until the end of November 2025.<br><br>The fellow will work closely with the Board and the Executive Director and staff, using their legal and policy skillset to develop and support Amnesty\u2019s governance policies and tasks. In addition, the fellow will also benefit from direct exposure to Amnesty\u2019s partners in human rights work through Amnesty\u2019s structured job-shadowing partnerships at legal firms and\/or public interest law organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) or any related degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluency in two South African languages is recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Competencies and Skills required<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to interact with staff at all levels, and communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to write clearly and concisely (without the need for significant editorial revision) and to proof-read policy, research, campaign and advocacy materials \u2013 often under tight timeframes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to gather and process large amounts of legal and governance information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to make presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to accurately analyse issues and apply systematic reasoning to formulate a response<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work self-sufficiently with some guidance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to travel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexibility in terms of working hours and the ability to work from home or to travel for work if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Personal qualities required<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A demonstrated commitment to activism and human rights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confident, assertive communicator who can work comfortably with diverse groups of<br>people, across all levels and various forms of media<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emotional intelligence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attention to detail and a high level of integrity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to prioritise work and manage deadlines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflective, open to learning and to self-care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul structured job-shadowing partnerships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuous learning and in-house training opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexibility in working hours and extensive time working from
