Open to any student-led team that has designed a health-related solution. All countries. All academic fields. A competition to celebrate good design in healthcare!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Project must be focused on a healthcare application in either of the 4 tracks\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Designs of Solutions for Advanced Health Systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Global Health\/ Humanitarian Design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthcare Apps\/ Digital Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post-Surgical Infection Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Project must have been started after January 1st, 2023<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Project must be driven by full-time students\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Postdoc research projects are ineligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projects that have utilized significant funding (>$100K) are ineligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projects that are not run by full-time students are ineligible. For example, projects run by startup companies or faculty are ineligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligible full-time students include those working towards undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and professional degrees (MBA, MD, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Project teams should comprise of more than one full-time student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants can submit multiple unique projects<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-competition-tracks\"><strong>Competition Tracks:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Designs of Solutions for Advanced Health Systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Global Health\/ Humanitarian Design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthcare Apps\/ Digital Health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Awards for each track<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1st Prize: $5,000<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2nd Prize: $3,000<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3rd Prize: $1,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-simplified-rubric-for-design-brief\"><strong>Simplified Rubric for Design Brief:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Design Brief is a two-page executive summary of your design project. The brief should be written for an audience of medtech engineers and designers who may not be as familiar as you are with your clinical and solution space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-content\"><strong>Content<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Design Briefs will be evaluated by following four criteria. We recommend the design brief is laid out in sections devoted to each criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Problem description (25%)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Define the problem you are addressing, the clinical\/healthcare background, and why there is a need for a better solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solution concept(s) (25%)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Present your proposed solution with your design rationale and explain how it meets the needs of the stakeholders involved in your clinical\/healthcare problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduction to practice (25%)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the proof-of-concept experimental results you have completed and\/or renderings and photos of your prototype(s).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pathway to implementation (25%)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the pathway that lies ahead for your project towards creating an impactful solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-timeline\"><strong>Timeline:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>January 19<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Submission of two-page proposals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>March 10\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Finalists informed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>April 12<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Final round (virtual event)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: January 19, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cbid.bme.jhu.edu\/news-events\/design-competition\/\">HERE<\/a>&nbsp;to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Johns Hopkins Healthcare Design Competition.
