{"id":27874,"date":"2025-03-06T15:04:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-06T15:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=27874"},"modified":"2025-03-06T15:04:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T15:04:48","slug":"the-africa-fellows-in-education-program-2025-2026-for-young-african-researchers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/the-africa-fellows-in-education-program-2025-2026-for-young-african-researchers\/","title":{"rendered":"The Africa Fellows in Education Program 2025\/2026 for Young African Researchers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;Global Education Analytics Institute (GEAI), in collaboration with PEP, invites young African researchers who are motivated to improve education and could benefit from additional support to submit an expression of interest in AFEP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AFEP enables the fellows to participate in a two-year research and policy development fellowship that introduces them to relevant research and analytical experiences and international networks of researchers and policy advisers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Funding Information<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding includes a $35K research (cash) grant. The program will also directly cover up to $25K in expenses for mentorship, study visits, conference travel, and in-country workshops to share research findings and training.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible for this call, applicants must:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a national of a Sub-Saharan African country;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have an MA or PhD degree, preferably in Economics, education policy, social\/public policy, development studies or international development, with a strong focus on education. While a PhD is not mandatory, GEAI and PEP encourage fresh PhD\u00a0 graduates who can benefit from mentorship and additional training to become solid researchers;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be proficient in quantitative data analysis, with a strong knowledge of data analysis software such as R and Stata;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not be older than 35 years old;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate interest in education policy research and analysis;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work for the government or have an affiliation at either a research or higher education institution in a Sub-Saharan African country and intend to do so for the foreseeable future;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Qualified females are strongly encouraged to apply.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Africa Fellows application process is managed by GEAI in collaboration with PEP. The applications will be assessed based on several factors, including prior preparation and the quality of an essay (see below). The expression of interest by the applicants should include:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A two-page statement of interest;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A two-page essay. The essay must be prepared in English. In this essay, the applicant must\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>either<\/strong>\u00a0think and write about a specific education problem in their home country and how it could be scientifically evaluated using quantitative methods.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>or\u00a0<\/strong>write an essay responding to any of the questions under the five thematic areas of our partner institution,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/teachingattherightlevel.org\/\">Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Africa<\/a>\u00a0(see attached thematic areas).
