The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU) on Saturday suspended their industrial actions after a brief meeting with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspension is expected to take effect from Wednesday 24 August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Adamu, the Federal Government has committed N50 billion to pay earned allowances for members of SSANU, NASU and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, activities in public universities are expected to remain limited as ASUU remains on strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Adamu, who had hinted of SSANU and NASU\u2019s strike suspension on Thursday 18 August, said ASUU rejected the government\u2019s proposal over the \u201cno work, no pay\u201d<\/em> rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister also said “the alternative payment systems provided by ASUU JAC of NASU and SSANU did very well.
