The\u00a0Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)<\/a> <\/strong>has set\u00a0new guidelines to ensure seamless conduct of future operational processes for all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers. The new developments were revealed in a bulletin at the end of a five-day retreat held in Abuja between Monday, 19th and Friday, 23rd September, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board has also barred CBT centers from collaborating with cyber cafes or tutorial centers, saying \u201cany violation of the directive, whether in part or whole, would lead to the revocation of the license of the erring CBT centre.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board announced that it would consider separating UTME registration from that of Direct Entry (DE) come 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the bulletin: \u201cNo new Computer-Based Test (CBT) center would be accredited without meeting the new requirements. To this end, new CBT centers must use laptop computer systems as clients, zero thin clients or Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) would no longer be accepted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt became necessary for the board to modify its operations towards achieving far-reaching improvements on various issues emanating from the registration process, biometric challenges, and other operational procedures.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnother key reason for the decision was the need to prevent IP address duplication and abuse,\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAMB also said it would introduce three mandatory autobot tests \u2013pre-accreditation, during Mock-UTME and the dummy examination (which is held a day before the UTME) \u2013 to confirm the readiness of the centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, also pointed out that biometrics of all accredited CBT center registration officers would be captured ahead of the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAMB also said candidates must use at least two fingers to print their registration slip. It said \u201cAny of the two fingers taken would be used for biometric verification prior to entering the examination hall on the day of the examination.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the registration point, candidates with bad fingerprints would be scheduled for the examination as \u201cExemption Candidates\u201d<\/em> and their registration slips would be color-coded to be different from those of other candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAMB said such candidates would sit their examination in Abuja on the last date of the national examination calendar and that their results would not be released until after being subjected to proper perusal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
