{"id":5590,"date":"2022-10-20T15:22:12","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T15:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=5590"},"modified":"2022-10-20T15:22:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T15:22:15","slug":"african-peacebuilding-networkapn-individual-research-fellowships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/african-peacebuilding-networkapn-individual-research-fellowships\/","title":{"rendered":"African Peacebuilding Network(APN): Individual Research Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/science-and-technology\/\">Science<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/research\/\">Research<\/a>\u00a0Council (SSRC) invites research\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/fellowships\/\">fellowship<\/a>\u00a0applications from African researchers, policy analysts, and practitioners working on conflict and peacebuilding issues at universities and research institutions; or regional, governmental, and nongovernmental agencies or organizations based in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A core component of the APN, the Individual Research Fellowship (IRF) program is a vehicle for enhancing the quality and visibility of independent African peacebuilding research both regionally and globally, while making peacebuilding knowledge accessible to key policymakers, practitioners and research centers of excellence in Africa and around the world. Fellowship recipients produce research-based knowledge that is relevant to, and has a significant impact on, peacebuilding scholarship, policy, and practice on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the fellowship period, recipients are required to participate in two mandatory workshops organized by the APN. These workshops will provide opportunities to refine recipients\u2019 research designs, focus and methods; present findings; explore ways to make their work more accessible through publications and other means to multiple peacebuilding constituencies; networking, and developing constructive working relationships with other fellows, senior academic, and practitioner facilitators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fellows are also strongly encouraged to contribute to the APN\u2019s Working Paper and Policy Briefing Note series, as well as to the program\u2019s digital forums and social&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/media\/\">media<\/a>&nbsp;platforms (Kujenga Amani, Facebook, and Twitter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Funding Information<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Up to eighteen (18) individual fellowships of a maximum of $15,000 each will be awarded.<\/li><li>Fellowships are awarded on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis and are intended to support six months of field-based research, from June 2022 to December 2022.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Research Issues<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Support is available for research and analysis on the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Root causes of, and emerging trajectories of violent conflict;<\/li><li>Natural resource conflict;<\/li><li>Geopolitics and histories of conflict and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/peace-and-conflict-resolution\/\">peace<\/a>;<\/li><li>Minorities, under-represented groups, and the social dynamics of conflict and peace;<\/li><li>Theories and practices of conflict mediation;<\/li><li>Resilience, conflict prevention and transformation;<\/li><li>State and non-state armed actors, transnational&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/narcotics-drugs-crime\/\">crime<\/a>, extremism, displacement and migration;<\/li><li>Post-conflict elections, democratization,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/democracy-good-governance\/\">governance<\/a>&nbsp;and development;<\/li><li>Statebuilding, Nationbuilding, Identities and the citizenship question;<\/li><li>Transitional justice, reconciliation, and peace;<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/economic-development\/\">economic<\/a>&nbsp;and financial dimensions of conflict, peacekeeping, and peace support operations;<\/li><li>Regional Economic Communities (RECs), regionalism and peace ;<\/li><li>UN-AU-REC Partnerships and Peacebuilding Architectures ;<\/li><li>Digital media, technology, war and peace;<\/li><li>Cultures, media, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/arts-culture\/\">art<\/a>(s) of peace;<\/li><li>Gender,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/youth-adolescents\/\">youth<\/a>&nbsp;and peacebuilding;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/water-sanitation\/\">Water<\/a>&nbsp;politics, conflict and peace;<\/li><li>Peace Movements.<\/li><li>Peace&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/education\/\">Education<\/a>.<\/li><li>Prevention of mass atrocities; and<\/li><li>Public&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/health\/\">Health<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/covid-19-grants-and-resources\/\">Covid<\/a>-19, conflict, peace and development.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/women-gender\/\">Women<\/a>&nbsp;are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/li><li>All applicants must be African citizens currently residing in an African country.
