The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has reportedly finalised plans for a one-day nationwide protest over partial salary paid by the Federal Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A member of ASUU National Executive Council confirmed the development on Sunday 13 November.The protest will reportedly involve members avoiding classes for one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recall that the Federal Government paid the lecturers partially for the month of October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige defending the act described it as pro-rata which is payment in proportion to days the lecturers resumed work after the conditional suspension of the eight-month strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement made by ASUU, \u201cWe are protesting.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBranches will choose their own date.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe government needs to understand that we are not casual workers,\u201d said the ASUU NEC member.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a letter signed by the chairperson of ASUU, University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch, Dr. Dele Ashiru, the branch would implement the decision on Tuesday 15 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
