The fellowship provided by the Computer Science Department of ETH takes place during two summer months and is open to all students worldwide. The department is committed to increasing diversity in the computer science area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research opportunities <\/strong>are available in the following areas:<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/data-management-machine-learning.html\">Data Management &amp; Machine Learning<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/information-system-security.html\">Information &amp; System Security<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/computer-systems.html\">Computer Systems<\/a><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/intelligent-interactive-systems-and-physical-computing.html\">Intelligent Interactive Systems and Physical Computing<\/a><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/programming-languages-software-engineering.html\">Programming Languages &amp; Software Engineering<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/theory-algorithms.html\">Theory &amp; Algorithms<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/visual-computing.html\">Visual Computing<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You are eligible for the ETH Student Summer Research Fellowship programme if you satisfy the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You are enrolled in a study programme (bachelor or master) in computer science or a closely related field (e.g., electrical engineering, mathematics, physics)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your expected graduation date in your current study programme (bachelor or master) is in the year following the fellowship or later<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will have completed two years of study by start of the programme (master students naturally satisfy this condition)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The duration of the fellowship is the full two months of July and August, during which time you must be present<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Language requirements:<\/strong><br>The programme is conducted exclusively in English. Although formal evidence of language proficiency is not required, the fellowship requires a good working knowledge of English and it may be assessed at an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Admission process:<\/strong><br>Your application will be evaluated on the basis of the documents provided. The last step of the application process may include an interview conducted with the shortlisted candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparing your application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please begin by exploring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inf.ethz.ch\/people\/faculty.html\">faculty members in the participating hosting labs<\/a> and their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inf.ethz.ch\/research.html\">research topics<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be asked in your application to indicate one or two preferred research areas. This will help the programme to coordinate optimal lab placements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Remark: Please do not contact faculty members directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be asked to fill in personal data and upload several documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your CV. Please use the <a href=\"https:\/\/europass.cedefop.europa.eu\/documents\/curriculum-vitae\">external pageEuropass formatcall_made<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Official academic transcript from your home university. Use the grading system that your university provides &#8211; the grading system on the GPA scale that you have been graded on.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letter of motivation\/personal statement (max 1 page). Describe in your own words why you have chosen your proposed scientific area of research. Explain what you hope to accomplish by coming to ETH and how it will support your academic or professional goals and prepare you for a career in research. A good personal statement can be written in half a page and you should aim not to write more than a full A4 page. Lay it out carefully to make it easy to read.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Only complete applications with all the required documents submitted through the application tool sirop can be considered for admission.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application period:<\/strong><br>15 November \u2013 15 December at 13:00 (Central European Time)<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Communication of the admission decision:<\/strong><br>Applicants will be notified by e-\u200bmail by February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duration of the programme:<\/strong><br>The programme will take place from 1 July \u2013 31 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Financial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scholarship:<\/strong><br>The amount provided covers housing-\u200b and living costs. Travel and visa expenses will be covered as well.
