The Federal Government has described the commencement of strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as unjustified because no notice about strike was received from the President of the Union either verbally or written to that effect.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASUU has declared a one-month nationwide warning strike on Monday which took effect immediately over the Federal Government’s failure to stick to the agreements reached with ASUU in December 2020. This strike has commenced barely one year and one month after the prolonged strike which lasted for nine(9) months was suspended, where students complained bitterly that “no compensation was made to them for the losses they encountered, such as; ” a full academic year, house rent paid without occupation, deaths by students and several other challenges faced by them as a result of the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the Federal Government, the President National Association of Nigerian Students Comrade Sunday Asefon has urged the President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and also the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige for woefully failing to resolve the halt between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Adamu made it known through the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education, Mr Ben. Bem Goong that the Federal Government was not aware of the latest development by ASUU to embark go on a one month warning strike and that Federal Government has been doing their best to implement the agreements reached with the Union.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
