{"id":689,"date":"2022-02-17T15:43:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T15:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=689"},"modified":"2022-02-17T15:43:32","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T15:43:32","slug":"commonwealth-distance-learning-scholarships-2022-2023-united-kingdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/commonwealth-distance-learning-scholarships-2022-2023-united-kingdom\/","title":{"rendered":"COMMONWEALTH DISTANCE LEARNING SCHOLARSHIPS 2022\/2023 \u2013 UNITED KINGDOM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opportunitiesforafricans.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/commonwealth-distance-learning-scholarships-2021.jpg\" alt=\"Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships 2021\/2022 for developing  Commonwealth countries (Fully Funded) | Opportunities For Africans\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are offering students from certain Commonwealth countries Scholarships, to develop needs of Commonwealth countries by providing good training for skilled and qualified professionals in key development areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These scholarships which are funded by the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-international-development\" target=\"_blank\">UK Department for International Development (DFID)<\/a>, is aimed at contributing to the UK\u2019s international development decision to widen overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These scholarships will be offered under six themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Science and technology for development<\/li><li>Strengthening health systems and capacity<\/li><li>Promoting global prosperity<\/li><li>Strengthening global peace, security and governance<\/li><li>Strengthening resilience and response to crises<\/li><li>Access, inclusion and opportunity<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship covers tuition fees and study grants where required. Other scholarships, awards, or bursaries that cover the same costs may not be held concurrently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Applicants should be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person<\/li><li>Applicants should be resident in a developing Commonwealth country<\/li><li>Applicants <strong>MUST<\/strong> hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases.<\/li><li>Applicants who are unable to afford the programme without this scholarship.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The CSC also aims to identify talented individuals who have the potential to make change. For further information, see the CSC anti-fraud policy and the DFID guidance on reporting fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Commonwealth countries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bangladesh<\/li><li>Cameroon<\/li><li>Eswatini<\/li><li>The Gambia<\/li><li>Ghana<\/li><li>Guyana<\/li><li>India<\/li><li>Kenya<\/li><li>Kiribati<\/li><li>Lesotho<\/li><li>Malawi<\/li><li>Mozambique<\/li><li>Nigeria<\/li><li>Pakistan<\/li><li>Papua New Guinea<\/li><li>Rwanda<\/li><li>Sierra Leone<\/li><li>Solomon Islands<\/li><li>Sri Lanka<\/li><li>Tanzania<\/li><li>Tuvalu<\/li><li>Uganda<\/li><li>Vanuatu<\/li><li>Zambia  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each participating UK University will conduct its own recruitment process to select a specified number of candidates for Distance Learning Scholarships. Universities <strong>MUST<\/strong> put forward their selected candidates to the CSC by 9 May 2022. The CSC will then confirm that these candidates meet the eligibility criteria for this scheme and Universities will also inform candidates of their results in July 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection criteria include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Academic merit of the candidate<\/li><li>Potential impact of the work on the development of the candidate\u2019s home country<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"how-to-apply\"><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Applicant must apply to study an eligible master\u2019s course at a UK University that is participating in the Distance Learning scheme.\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk\/commonwealth-distance-learning-scholarships-2022-eligible-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a>\u00a0for a list of participating Universities and eligible courses.<\/li><li>Applicants must also apply and secure admission in their choice of course, in addition to applying for a Distance Learning Scholarship.<\/li><li>Applicants must check with their University of choice for their specific advice on when to apply, admission requirements, and rules for applying.<\/li><li>Applicants must make their application using the CSC\u2019s online application system, in addition to any other application that they are required to complete by their University of choice.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must include the following supporting documentation by 17:00 (GMT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5 April 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>At least one reference \u2013 should be submitted directly by the referee to the online application system (referees will be sent an email request).<\/li><li>An offer letter to start the chosen course of study in the 2022-2023 academic year \u2013 uploaded to the online application system.<\/li><li>Full transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications (with certified translations if not in English) uploaded to the online application system.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are offering students from certain Commonwealth countries Scholarships, to develop needs of Commonwealth countries by<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-689","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
