Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;join forces to support&nbsp;<strong>20,000 African women entrepreneurs&nbsp;<\/strong>over the next&nbsp;<strong>three years<\/strong>&nbsp;through the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cJAMII Femmes\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe chose the name JAMII, a Swahili word meaning community, society, people, because it represents who we are as Africans and reflects our values as an organisation: our resilience, commitment and community spirit.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<strong>The Coca-Cola Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>JAMII Femmes<\/strong>&nbsp;initiative aims to increase the&nbsp;<strong>impact of African women entrepreneurs<\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>African economy<\/strong>&nbsp;and support the creation of&nbsp;<strong>innovative solutions<\/strong>&nbsp;for<strong>&nbsp;sustainable development<\/strong>&nbsp;that will contribute to positive change in Africa by&nbsp;<strong>improving the quality of life<\/strong>&nbsp;of tens of thousands of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course of the programme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For this first year, the Coca-Cola Foundation and Women In Africa are offering a multi-phase programme to&nbsp;<strong>7,000 women from three countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase is a&nbsp;<strong>4-month digital training phase<\/strong>, conducted by WIA\u2019s partner,&nbsp;<strong>Honoris United Universities,&nbsp;<\/strong>Africa\u2019s first and largest network of private higher education institutions, which will enable them to develop skills in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>behavioural intelligence,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>critical thinking,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>creativity and design thinking,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>communication, collaboration,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the&nbsp;<strong>second phase<\/strong>, selected beneficiaries will have&nbsp;<strong>access to grants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, in the&nbsp;<strong>third phase<\/strong>, selected beneficiaries will be able to participate in an&nbsp;<strong>accelerator programme<\/strong>, after which a special prize of&nbsp;<strong>USD 10,000<\/strong>&nbsp;will be awarded&nbsp;<strong>per country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call for applications open for the 2nd Nigeria, Kenya or Ivory Coast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entrepreneur<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mainly in the Agriculture sector and\/or in relation to the sustainable development objectives defined by UNESCO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>More than 9,500 applications received for the 1st cohort.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3,000 women entrepreneurs selected as participants of the 1st cohort named \u201cWomen change makers\u201d launched in October 2022 on the occasion of launch events in Nigeria, Kenya and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 The candidate must be able to be present in the country of selection if she is selected for the acceleration phase, in case she does not reside there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 3 pillars of the programme in 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wia-initiative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/JAMII-FEMMES-formation-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access to education<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>7,000 women entrepreneurs will benefit from a digital programme on entrepreneurship and social and personal skills. The sessions, led by WIA\u2019s knowledge partner and Africa\u2019s first and largest network of private higher education institutions, Honoris United Universities, will provide women with a comprehensive approach to developing creative ideas, as well as knowledge on leadership and management skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the accelerator programme, 70 women entrepreneurs from 3 countries will benefit from coaching and an in-depth support programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wia-initiative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/JAMII-femmes-grants-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access to finance<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>600 women entrepreneurs will receive grants to support their business development and improve their impact on communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the programme, one laureate per country will receive a prize of $10,000 to support her project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wia-initiative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/JAMII-FEMMES-reseau-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Network access and visibility<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme will give participants a lifetime access to the WIA network, and thus, to potential collaborators throughout Africa.<br>WIA will create an Advisory Council for each country, composed of local personalities who will accompany the programme.
