It has been carefully structured to prevent interference in mainstream academics. The program operates on a hybrid model with an online and onsite session. The goal is to mentor participants to pursue STEM careers at the highest level in research, training and industry. The training is also designed to create a special class of students who will lead cutting edge research and innovation in the next few years. It is currently being implemented with support from the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education under the UNESCO Category II arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Aims.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8020\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What happens within the 9 months period of the program?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;Monthly online meetings to train students on how to identify specific problems, probe into issues and find meaningful ways of solving these problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;Insightful virtual sessions (Masterclasses) with leading international scientists who will discuss their work and current open problems in their fields of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Career mentoring programs where researchers and AIMS alumni will enlighten participants on diverse career options available after pursuing studies in the mathematical sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;Science communication training which will enhance the ability of participants to translate technical knowledge into practical terms that the public can engage with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022&nbsp;Residential sessions at the AIMS Ghana campus where students take mini-courses in selected areas with a sound conceptual introduction to the profound and revolutionary ideas at the foundations of modern mathematical sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Extracurricular activities including industry visits, hands-on interactions, meeting prominent figures and fun games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who\u00a0qualifies to be a part of this program?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any Ghanaian Senior High School (SHS) can nominate up to 5 female student(s) if she (or they) meet all the following requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nominated student(s):<br>\u2022 Must be a Ghanaian.<br>\u2022 Should be in SHS 1 or 2 or equivalent.<br>\u2022 Should have a passion for and strong ability in Mathematics as reflected in high school course grades and extracurricular activities.<br>\u2022 Should intend to pursue studies in STEM and\/or Mathematical Sciences at the university level in the future, and at the time of application.<br>\u2022 Should be fluent in speaking and reading and should have good listening and writing skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do I need to pay any fees or other financial obligations?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selected participants of the program will not pay any fees.
