{"id":8137,"date":"2023-02-08T15:02:08","date_gmt":"2023-02-08T15:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=8137"},"modified":"2023-02-08T15:03:45","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T15:03:45","slug":"afrise-challenge-for-african-youth-student-entrepreneurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/afrise-challenge-for-african-youth-student-entrepreneurs\/","title":{"rendered":"AFRISE Challenge for African Youth &amp; Student Entrepreneurs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Concordia University has launched the 2023 AFRISE&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/awards\/\">Challenge<\/a>&nbsp;that provides an opportunity for high potential African&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/youth-adolescents\/\">youth<\/a>&nbsp;and student entrepreneurs to rise up in their entrepreneurial journey, and contribute to local and regional&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/economic-development\/\">economic<\/a>&nbsp;development by becoming job creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concordia University, Montreal, QC has partnered with Hindsight Ventures and AfriLabs for this program, with a central theme focusing on how youth entrepreneurs can help \u201cAfrican\u201d economies to \u201cRise\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Challenge Areas<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>AFRISE seeks to identify young innovators and entrepreneurs who have an idea to solve a scalable mass challenge in areas related to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/health\/\">Healthcare<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/agriculture\/\">Agriculture<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy \/ Utility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/education\/\">Education<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/environment\/\">Environment<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Telecommunications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arts &amp; Creativity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Program Takeaways<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Accelerator Program<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>30 high-potential founders will be selected for a mentorship and leadership development accelerator, that will be delivered by successful founders,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/business-industry\/\">industry<\/a>&nbsp;leaders, domain experts and investors; alongside leaders from Concordia University, District 3 Innovation Centre, Hindsight Ventures and AfriLabs global network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International Demo Day<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Accelerator Program will culminate with an International Demo Day, wherein the Top-15 Entrepreneurs present at a Virtual Demo Day to a group of early stage venture investors and Entrepreneurship Support Organizations for accessing funding support (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/latest-funds-for-ngos\/\">grant<\/a>&nbsp;+ equity based funding)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/science-and-technology\/\">Technology<\/a>&nbsp;Credits and other Support<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each startup gets in excess of $600,000 in technology credits from partners such as AWS, Zoho, IBM, Microsoft, Canva, DigitalOcean, FreshWorks and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Market Exposure Tour to Concordia University, Montreal, QC<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5 Youth Entrepreneurs get selected for a 1-Week International Exposure in Montreal with Concordia University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duration<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Virtual bootcamp- 3 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In market program \u2013 1 week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The program is aimed at 18 \u2013 30 year old African youth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are looking for applications from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/tag\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/tag\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/tag\/morocco\">Morocco<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/tag\/funding-opportunities-and-resources-in-senegal\">Senegal<\/a>. AFRISE seeks to identify young innovators and entrepreneurs who have a scalable idea to solve a mass challenge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having a prototype or some early traction is always preferable.
