{"id":9835,"date":"2023-03-30T15:01:29","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T15:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/?p=9835"},"modified":"2023-03-30T15:01:32","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T15:01:32","slug":"us-raises-student-tourist-visa-fees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/us-raises-student-tourist-visa-fees\/","title":{"rendered":"US Raises Student, Tourist Visa Fees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The United States Department of State has announced 15 per cent hike in fees for certain nonimmigrant visa applications, including travel visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the fee for B-1\/B-2 visitor visas, Border Crossing Cards for Mexican citizens aged 15 and above, and student and exchange visitor visas will increase from $160 to $185.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"348\" height=\"145\" src=\"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Visas.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Visas.jpg 348w, https:\/\/presspay.ng\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Visas-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, the fees for certain nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) will increase from $190 to $205.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the fee for treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (E category) will increase from $205 to $315.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These increases were published in the Federal Register on March 28, 2023 and will be effective on May 30, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cNIV fees are set based on the actual cost of providing NIV services and are determined after conducting a study of the cost of these services.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe Department uses an Activity-Based Costing methodology to calculate, annually, the cost of providing consular services, including visa services.
