Call for Applications: Small Project and Support Fund Program (Component 2)
Applications are now open for the Small Project and Support Fund (SPSF) to empower communities to act and participate in their own development through actions that are designed, implemented and owned by the communities themselves.
This is a call for applications for funding for activities that provide an immediate response to Human Rights violations (Component 2) rapid response in South Africa through, for example, legal support and/or mobilization. The activities will have the overall aim of empowering vulnerable communities. The applicant will need to demonstrate what the situation was before the violation happened and how this rapid response intervention will restore human rights.
Objectives
- The grant aims to provide support in responding to emergency situations and will be mainly focused on protection measures for vulnerable, marginalised and indigent individuals and communities.
- The response to emergency demands will be through direct community support, which may include, among other actions, logistical support, advocacy work, humanitarian assistance, access to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, physical and psychological health care, assistance with engagement of legal advice/services and strengthening of safety networks.
Funding Information
- The calls seeks to support projects under component 2, the maximum grant amount is 75.000 ZAR during the current financial year 2024/25 financial year.
- The maximum period for the implementation of the emergency activities is 6 weeks.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications may be made by individuals or legally registered non-governmental organizations who are based in South Africa.
Ineligible
- Any projects/entities that:
- Are currently being supported and funded by AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) during the 1 April 2024/31 March 2025 Financial Year will not be eligible to apply for funds from the Ukusekela-SPSF.
- Are already being funded by Bread for the World (BfdW) cannot be supported through the Ukusekela-SPSF or are funded in the 1 April 2024/31 March 2025 Financial Year.
- Are part of government structures or are in any way linked to government cannot be funded.
- Entities that have an annual budget of more than R1.5m will not be considered for funding.
- The grant cannot be used to support any HIV/AIDS related work.
- The grant will not provide support for stipends/Human Resource related costs
- The grant will not provide support for the purchase of equipment that is not directly linked to the intended rapid response.
- The grant will not provide support for the organisations cash flow problems.
- The grant will not provide support for planned projects/activities/service delivery programs these must be rapid and emerging in nature.
- Top up funding request will not be considered.
