2025 DAAD Study Scholarships in Architecture For Masters Students (Fully Funded)

The DAAD Study Scholarships funded by the German Government provide funding for international students to pursue Master’s degrees in the country.

The DAAD Study Scholarships offer you the opportunity to continue your education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course of study in the field of architecture.

The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

  • a Master’s degree/postgraduate degree leading to a final qualification
    or
  • a complementary course that does not lead to a final qualification (not an undergraduate course);

at a state or state-recognized German university of your choice.

Requirements:

  • have gained a first university (Bachelor’s) degree in the areas of;
    • Architecture, Interior Design, Monument Conservation and Building in Existing Contexts/Reconditioning of Old Buildings, Urban Planning/Urban Development, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Planning at the latest by the time they commence their scholarship-supported study programme.
  • clearly show motivation and strong commitment;
  • have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction;

Funding for a Master’s degree programme/a postgraduate degree programme that has already started in Germany cannot be granted.

Duration and Reward

  • A monthly payment of 992 euros
  • Travel allowance
  • One-off study allowance
  • Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover

Under certain circumstances, you can apply for the following additional benefits after start of funding:

  • Monthly rent subsidy 
  • Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family.
  • Payment of course fees for an online language course after receipt of the Scholarship Award Letter
  • Green Mobility Top Up (Support for climate-friendly travel) or reimbursement of carbon offset payments for air travel

Required Documents

  • DAAD application form duly filled in (available in the DAAD-Portal)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate including the final grade
  • Transcripts for all semesters of the Bachelor’s degree programme (if possible)
  • Motivation letter (DAAD form) [docx-file] explaining:
    • previous academic career (including a listing of universities and study programmes attended);
    • motivation for the application.
  • Copy of the passport
  • If available, letter of acceptance from the host university in Germany.
    If you have not yet received notification of admission at the time of application, you must submit this before the funding period begins.
