Katsina Partners with UNICEF on Three-Year Initiative for Health, Education, and Child Protection
The Katsina State Government has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to launch a three-year work plan (2025–2027) aimed at improving health, education, nutrition, and child protection across the state.
This ambitious plan, designed to secure a brighter future for every child in Katsina, will also strengthen efforts in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), as well as social policy initiatives.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Katsina Government House on Thursday, the Chief of UNICEF’s Kano Field Office, Mr. Rahama Farah, described the agreement as a reflection of UNICEF’s unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of children in the state.
Represented by Dr. Sereke Deres, Health Manager at the UNICEF Kano Field Office, Farah emphasised that the work plan goes beyond being a mere document — it embodies a shared vision for a better future for Katsina’s children.
He called on the state government to boost budgetary allocations to critical sectors, including health, nutrition, education, WASH, child protection, and social welfare, to ensure effective service delivery.
By prioritising these investments, he noted, Katsina could establish resilient systems that rely less on external aid and are more attuned to the needs of its people.
Farah further stressed that investing in children’s wellbeing is not only a moral responsibility but also a strategic move that promises significant long-term benefits for the state’s overall development.
