The British Council Languages Teacher Training Scholarship offers £28,000 in funding plus training support. It is open to people who want to teach French, German, or Spanish in England. Applications for the 2025–2026 school year are now open.
This scholarship helps new teachers build a career in language education while receiving financial help and support from the British Council.
Requirements:
- Have a 2:1 degree or predicted 2:1 in a Bachelor of Honours course (or the recognised equivalent)
- Or hold a PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant subject
- Want to teach French, German, or Spanish
- You have a 2:2 degree or predicted 2:2 and can show strong knowledge of one of the listed languages
- Or you studied another subject but have proven skills in French, German, or Spanish
- Secure a place on a non-salaried languages teacher training programme in England
- Start that course in the 2025–2026 academic year
- Be accepted into the course by September 2025
