COOU Secures Full NUC Accreditation for Key Programmes — What This Means for Students
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), located in the heart of Anambra State, has officially received full accreditation for several of its academic programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
In a memo dated 29 April 2025, the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, confirmed this milestone achievement. The accreditation follows the commission’s routine academic audit, which took place between October and November 2024.
Thanks to the NUC’s assessment, the following COOU programmes now proudly wear the “Fully Accredited” badge:
- Medicine and Surgery
- Nursing Sciences
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Physiology
- M.Sc. in Accounting
- M.Sc. in Public Administration
- Urban and Regional Planning
- Geology
- Statistics
- Teacher Education in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Economics
This means both undergraduate and postgraduate students in these areas can move forward with confidence, knowing their education is standard-compliant and future-ready.
The University Management expressed deep appreciation to the Visitor of the University and Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, whose unwavering support played a crucial role in achieving this success.
