History of Glorious Vision University
Glorious Vision University (GVU) originated from a prophetic mandate by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, which on January 1, 2005, initiated plans to establish a faith-based university dedicated to raising a godly and knowledge-driven generation.
The vision materialized when the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted the institution its operating licence on March 7, 2011, making it Nigeria’s 45th private university and the 117th university overall.
Originally named Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU)—in honour of a revered church leader—the institution admitted its pioneer set of 58 students during the 2011/2012 academic session. The first set of graduates successfully completed their studies in September 2015.
In June 2022, the NUC approved the university’s official name change to Glorious Vision University, aligning with the church’s prophetic vision and reaffirming its identity and purpose.
Structurally, the university operates through three main colleges: Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities, and Social & Management Sciences, with Law also recognized in some listings as a standalone faculty.
From its spiritual inception in 2005 to its licensing in 2011, the university has steadily grown through programme accreditations, postgraduate expansions, and new campus developments. Today, Glorious Vision University stands as a respected, faith-driven academic institution committed to excellence, discipline, and leadership development.
