Turkey Government International Student Scholarship 2026

Türkiye Scholarships is a fully government-funded higher education program administered by the Republic of Türkiye for international students. Its core objective is to offer equal educational opportunities to outstanding students from around the world.

Recognized as one of the most comprehensive scholarship schemes globally, Türkiye Scholarships covers university and department placement, monthly stipends, full tuition fees, health insurance, accommodation, Turkish language training, round-trip flight tickets, and access to academic and cultural programs. Through this initiative, international students are given the opportunity to study at and receive financial support to attend some of Türkiye’s most prestigious universities.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants who have graduated or will graduate before August of the current academic year

Ineligible Applicants

  • Turkish citizens or individuals who have renounced Turkish citizenship
  • Applicants currently enrolled in Turkish universities at the same level of study they intend to apply for

Age Limits

  • Associate and Bachelor’s programs: under 21 years
  • Master’s programs: under 30 years
  • PhD programs: under 35 years
  • Research scholarships: under 50 years

Required Application Documents

Applicants applying through the Türkiye Scholarships Application System (TBBS) must upload the following:

  • Valid national ID card or passport
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (taken within the last year)
  • National examination results (if applicable)
  • Diploma or temporary graduation certificate
  • Academic transcript
  • International examination results (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.), if required by the chosen program or university
  • International language proficiency test results (TOEFL, DELF, or equivalent), if required
  • Research proposal and a sample of previous research work (PhD applicants only)

Language of Instruction

While many programs in Turkish universities are taught in Turkish, some institutions and departments offer programs in English or other languages. Applicants intending to study in these programs must provide an internationally recognized language proficiency certificate (such as TOEFL or an equivalent accepted by the university). Some programs may also require international standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.), which can be verified during program selection in the application system.

Undergraduate applicants with international qualifications such as SAT or GCSE instead of national examination results must meet the minimum secondary school completion requirements set by these qualifications.

All Türkiye Scholarships recipients who do not hold a C1-level Turkish Proficiency Certificate regardless of the language of instruction of their program are required to complete a one-year Turkish language course and achieve C1 proficiency by the end of the academic year.

  • Select and rank your preferred universities and study programs.
  • Carefully review the application stages and required documents, then confirm your application.
  • Upload all necessary documents, including details of your extracurricular activities and achievements in various fields.
  • Submit a well-written letter of intent outlining your academic preferences, expectations, and long-term career goals.
